Bubble Tea / Specialty Drinks
A bubble tea shop is modifier-heavy fast service — every drink has sugar level, ice level, milk type, toppings. The Rewardly setup leans on rich modifier groups, kiosk self-ordering, and app-first loyalty (the Gen-Z customer base lives in the member app).
Example business: Bobaful — a 10-store chain selling milk teas and fruit teas with full customization.
Setup recipe
1. Outlet & registers
- Default Order Mode =
Take Out. - Tables off (most BBT is grab-and-go).
- Outlet Registers — 1–2 POS at the counter + 1 self-order kiosk per store.
- Enable QR ordering for delivery drivers / pickup.
→ See Outlet Settings, Online Ordering.
2. Membership tiers (2 levels)
| Tier | Level | Target | Perk |
|---|---|---|---|
Member | 1 | Any signup. | Standard earn. |
VIP | 2 | $200 spent in 90 days. | 1.5× earn + early access to new drinks. |
- Auto upgrade on.
→ See Membership & Tiers.
3. Loyalty ratio
- 10 points per $1 — small basket needs a meaningful number.
- Channel scope — POS + Kiosk + Online (all of them).
- Point expiry — 6 months.
- Conversion to store credit — 100 points → $1 (encourage the app loop).
→ See Loyalty Points, Store Credit.
4. Menu structure (the BBT secret)
Modifiers carry the menu. Plan for 4–5 modifier groups:
| Group | Type | Options |
|---|---|---|
| Sugar | Single-select, required | 0% · 25% · 50% · 75% · 100% |
| Ice | Single-select, required | No ice · Less · Regular · Extra |
| Milk | Single-select | Fresh · Oat (+$0.80) · Soy (+$0.50) |
| Toppings | Multi-select | Pearls (+$0.80) · Pudding (+$1.00) · Coconut Jelly (+$1.00) · Cheese Foam (+$1.50) |
| Size | Variant | Regular · Large (+$1.00) |
Use Modifier Inventory on the toppings group
Cheese foam, pudding, and seasonal toppings run out before the tea base does. Tracking them in Modifier Inventory lets the kiosk hide out-of-stock toppings automatically.
→ See Menus, Modifier Inventory.
5. Stamp card + vouchers
| Program | Type | Trigger |
|---|---|---|
Buy 10, get 1 free (stamp) | Product (any tea) | Repeating |
Welcome — Free Pearl Topping (voucher) | Free modifier | First-time shopper |
Birthday — Free Drink (voucher) | Free item | Birthday |
Refer a friend — both get $3 off (voucher) | Cash | Referral |
→ See Stamp Cards, Vouchers, Referral.
6. Pricing Rules
- Happy Hour 2–5 pm —
Pricing Tier: Afternoon, 15% off the regular tea — addresses the dead afternoon between lunch and the after-school rush. - Buy 2 get 1 free — Buy X get Y free discount, mix & match across the
Classic Teascategory.
→ See Pricing Rules & Tiers, Discounts.
7. Channels — app & kiosk first
Bubble tea customers expect to order in advance to skip the queue:
- Online Ordering (QR) — turn on; print QR table-talkers and on the counter.
- Kiosk — primary channel during peak.
- POS — for cash customers and complex orders.
Banner the loyalty offer on the Kiosk
On Kiosk, enable Display banner for one big discount (e.g. stamp card progress). Younger customers respond to visible progress.
8. StockOS
- Ingredients — tea base by litre, milk by litre, pearls by kg, syrups by ml. Recipes deduct per cup.
- Modifier Inventory — premium toppings (see above).
- Inventory — packaged drinks (bottled water, canned coffee).
→ See Ingredients & Recipes.
9. Payment
- Cash + PayNow + Credit Card — wide reach.
- Cash Rounding —
$0.05, cash-only. - Store Credit — pivotal; bubble tea fans top up to skip checkout hassle. Enable
Disable purchase if no credit.
→ See Store Credit, Cash Rounding.
KPIs to watch
- Modifier attach — average paid modifiers per drink (premium milk, toppings).
- Kiosk share — % of orders started on kiosk.
- Stamp-card cycle — average days between stamp 1 and stamp 10.
