Referral

Overview

A referral program rewards your existing members for bringing in new customers. When a member's friend joins, the member earns a reward — a voucher, points, or store credit.

Referrals turn your happy customers into a marketing channel.

How it works

1. A member shares their referral with a friend through the member app.
2. The friend signs up and joins your loyalty program.
3. Once the referral counts toward the program, the referring member receives the reward you configured.
4. A gift amount limit caps how much the program will ever pay out, so your costs stay predictable.

The reward (gift type) can be:

• Voucher — a voucher copy.
• Points — loyalty points.
• Store credit — a top-up to store credit.

Turn referrals on first

Referral programs only work when Allow referral is enabled in Merchant Settings → Programs tab.

Default setup

Bean & Brew example: refer a friend, get $5 store credit.

1. Open Merchant Settings → Programs tab and turn on Allow referral.
2. In the sidebar open Loyalty & Programs → Referral Programs, then click Create.
3. Fill in:
   • Name — Refer a Friend
   • Referral count min / max — the number of referrals the reward covers
   • Gift type — Store credit
   • Gift amount — 5
   • Gift amount limit — the total payout cap for the program
4. Set Status to Draft, review, then switch to Live and Save.

Advanced options

All referral fields

Field	What it does
Name	The referral program's name. Required.
Referral count min / max	The range of referrals the reward applies to.
Gift type	The reward — Voucher, Points, or Store credit.
Gift voucher	(Voucher gift type) Which voucher the referrer receives.
Gift amount	How much the referrer receives. Locked to the voucher when the gift type is Voucher.
Gift amount limit	The total amount the program will pay out before it stops.
Current gifted amount	(View only) How much has been paid out so far.
Expire date	When the referral program ends.
How it works	A rich-text description shown to customers.
Status	Draft (inactive) or Live (active).

What members & staff see

In the member app, members access the refer-a-friend flow and see their referral rewards as voucher or credit cards. There is no POS step — referral rewards are granted automatically once a referral qualifies.
