Taking Payment
Overview
The Payment screen is where a cashier settles an order — chooses a tender, takes the money, and finishes the sale. It opens when you tap Pay from the basket, or Pay on a table or a split.
A sale can be paid with one tender or several, in full or in part. Cash always works, even with no internet. Everything else depends on which tenders your register is set up with.
Integrated gateways are set up for you
The card and gateway tenders below — Adyen, Stripe, Fiuu/MOLPay, PayNow, T05, X800, DCS — are connected by the Rewardly team and then switched on for a register under Payment Methods. You add Cash, Custom, Manual PayNow and the in-house tenders (points, store credit, vouchers) yourself. See Card & Terminal Payments for the gateway side.
What it looks like
The Payment screen has two halves.
On the left sits the order being paid — the basket, the table's order, or the one split you picked. On the right are the controls:
| Area | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Amount display | The amount this tender will take. Type it on the numpad, or leave it at the full balance. |
| Change display | Amount − amount due. Shows green when change is due, red when the amount is still short of the total. |
| Numpad | Type or edit the amount. Cash amounts are rounded per your cash-rounding rule. |
| Tender row | A horizontal row of tender buttons — one per payment method on the register. The selected tender is highlighted. |
| Remarks | An optional note saved against the payment. |
| Pager number | An optional pager selector — appears only when pager numbers are turned on for the outlet. |
| Pay $X | Commits the payment. The header also shows the amount still due. |
A refresh button re-pulls the order — handy if the bill changed on another device.
Tenders
The tender buttons come straight from the register's configured payment methods, so your cashiers only see the ones you use. Each button shows its own label, and the Voucher Payment button shows the balance available to spend.
| Tender | What it does | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Cash | Standard cash payment; opens the cash drawer. | Always available — works fully offline. |
| Adyen | Sends the amount to a connected Adyen card terminal. | Set up by Rewardly. |
| Tap-to-Pay | Adyen Tap-to-Pay — the device itself reads the card, no separate terminal. | iOS and Android. |
| Stripe | Card payment via Stripe. | Set up by Rewardly. |
| Fiuu / MOLPay | Card / wallet payment via Fiuu (MOLPay). | MY and SG. Set up by Rewardly. |
| PayNow | Automatic PayNow QR — matched and confirmed on its own. | SG. Set up by Rewardly. |
| Manual PayNow | Matches an incoming PayNow transfer you receive on your own QR. | You add it yourself — see below. |
| T05 | A connected card terminal tender. | Set up by Rewardly. |
| X800 | A connected card terminal tender (supports native refunds). | Set up by Rewardly. |
| Custom | A card-machine tally — you run the card on your own machine and record it here. May carry a fixed amount. | You add it yourself; reconciled at shift close. |
| DCS / DCS Wallet | DCS terminal card / wallet payment. | Android only — see below. |
| Voucher Payment | Spends a payment-linked voucher as a tender. The button shows the balance. | Must be applied first (see guards). |
DCS is Android only
DCS and DCS Wallet buttons only appear on Android. On iOS the app shows "DCS payment is not supported on iOS." DCS also runs a terminal settlement when you close the shift — see Registers & Shifts.
Custom tenders are reconciled later
A Custom tender (e.g. Amex, Visa, PayNow card-machine) just records that a card machine took the money — Rewardly doesn't talk to the machine. At shift close the cashier enters the actual card-machine total next to the system's expected figure so the two can be reconciled.
Partial and split-tender payments
You don't have to pay the whole balance with one tender.
- Edit the Amount down and pay part of the total. The order moves to a partially-paid state and the remaining balance stays open.
- Keep adding tenders until the balance is cleared — e.g. some on points, the rest in cash. Each payment toasts "$X paid".
- The Change display shows any overpayment on cash. Cash amounts follow your cash-rounding rule.
To split one bill across several payers (not just several tenders), use Split Bill instead — each split routes to this same Payment screen on its own.
Payment guards
The screen blocks a payment and tells you why when:
- the order is already settled — "Order already paid";
- a payment-linked voucher is in play but hasn't been spent yet — "Pay with voucher first"; or
- the Amount is empty — "Please enter amount".
A sale also can't be paid while the shift is closed — paying prompts "Shift closed! Open a shift?".
In-house tenders (points, credit, vouchers)
When a customer is attached to the sale, three more tenders become available. They all need a selected customer — otherwise the screen warns "User not selected".
| Tender | What it shows | Cap |
|---|---|---|
| Loyalty points | The point balance and the conversion "1$ = N point". | Capped to the points available. |
| Store credit | The customer's store-credit balance. | Capped to the balance. |
| Post-pay credit | Available credit added on top of store value, when enabled. | Capped to the allocation. |
| Voucher Payment | The balance from any payment-linked vouchers applied to the basket. | Capped to the voucher balance. |
The point-to-dollar conversion comes from your loyalty program; post-pay credit only appears when post-pay is enabled for the customer. See Post-Pay Credit for how that credit line works.
Manual PayNow — matching live payments
Manual PayNow lets you take PayNow on your own QR and match each transfer to an order by hand — no gateway needed.
Incoming PayNow payments arrive in real time over the connection and queue for matching:
- When a transfer lands, a full-screen "Payment Received" alert pops up showing the amount, payer, reference, date and note. The amount is also read aloud (text-to-speech).
- On the Payment screen, the Manual PayNow tender shows the pending amount.
- Tap it to open the "Select PayNow Payment" picker and choose which received payment to apply to this order.
- Pay — the matched transfer settles against the bill.
If several payments arrive at once (for example, just after the device reconnects), they're batched into a single alert. See QR & Digital Wallets for the two PayNow options.
After payment
When the balance is cleared, a "Payment successful!" modal offers:
- Print / Reprint kitchen chit — fire or re-fire the kitchen chit.
- Print / Reprint receipt — print the customer's receipt.
- New Sale — clear down and start the next order.
- Register member on this card — appears only when the card has an alias and no member is attached; links a member to that card for next time.
Split payments print their own receipt automatically once each split is fully paid.
Points are earned after payment, not on this screen
Point and stamp earnings never appear on the Payment screen. Rewardly calculates them on its server once payment is complete, then updates the member's balance and your reports.
