AIstein & AI Tools
Overview
Rewardly has a handful of AI tools woven into the admin console — an in-app support assistant plus a few AI-assisted helpers that take the busywork out of reports, product imports, and recipe mapping.
These are assistive tools — they speed up a task or answer a question, but you stay in control. Every AI suggestion lands in a preview you review and correct before anything is saved, and the support chat points you at the right screen rather than changing settings for you.
Where the AI tools live
The tools on this page sit in different corners of the console — Ask AIstein at the top of the sidebar, AI Report under Rewardly POS, Smart Import on the Products and Stock Control lists, and an AI review step inside Ingredient Bundles. There is no single "AI" menu.
Ask AIstein — the in-admin support assistant
Ask AIstein is the AI support chat built into the admin console. It's the first item at the top of the sidebar — open it any time you're unsure how something works.
AIstein is a support assistant, not an operator. It helps you:
- Find your way around — which screen a setting lives on, what a field does, how a feature is meant to be used.
- Understand a concept — the difference between a membership tier and a loyalty program, what "Draft" vs "Live" means, why points are calculated after payment.
- Work through a problem — it's the same assistant referenced from the Troubleshooting guides, so you can describe what's going wrong and get pointed at the likely cause and fix.
AIstein guides — it doesn't change your settings
AIstein answers questions and points you at the right screen. It does not edit programs, issue vouchers, or change settings on your behalf — you make those changes yourself in the relevant screen.
AI Report — natural-language reports
The AI Report builder lets you ask for a report in plain English instead of hunting through filters. Type what you want to know — "total sales last week by outlet" — and Rewardly generates the report for you.
You'll find it in the sidebar under Rewardly POS → AI Report. It sits alongside the fixed POS reports (Sales Summary, Shift Report, Sales by Item, and the rest), so reach for AI Report when the question you have doesn't match one of the ready-made screens.
The full POS reporting suite — including AI Report — is covered on the POS Reports page.
Smart Import — AI-assisted data mapping
Smart Import uses AI to read a messy file or pasted block of data and map it into the right columns for you, so you don't have to format a perfect CSV by hand. It's the AI-assisted alternative to the plain CSV importers.
Smart Import appears as a button on these list screens:
| Where | What it imports |
|---|---|
| Products | Your product catalogue — names, codes, prices, modifiers, combos. |
| Stock Control → Ingredients | Recipe ingredients — name, unit, supplier, category, price. |
| Stock Control → Ingredient Bundles | Bundles (recipes) and their ingredient lines. |
| Stock Control → Product Inventories | Per-outlet stock levels and price control. |
Every Smart Import runs through the same four steps — Input → Review → Importing → Results — and the AI does its work in the Review step: it auto-detects whether your data has a header row, maps each column, and matches values against your existing outlets, suppliers, units, and product codes. You then edit the preview table, fix any unmatched rows, and only then import.
Always review the preview
The AI's mapping is a starting point, not a final answer. Check the Review table — especially any rows flagged as unmatched — before you import. You can bulk-apply a value (an outlet, a unit, a supplier) to every row at once, and download any failed rows as a CSV to correct and re-import.
For the full walkthrough — the heuristics it uses, the validation rules, and how matching works — see Smart Import.
Ingredient Bundle AI review
When you attach an Ingredient Bundle to your products, you don't have to assign every product by hand. The AI assignment review suggests which products each bundle should belong to, and you approve or reject its suggestions.
To reach it, open Stock Control → Ingredient Bundles, then open the bundle's AI review screen. Rewardly proposes product ↔ bundle assignments; you review the list and confirm the ones that are correct.
You confirm every assignment
The AI suggests assignments — nothing is linked until you approve it. Treat the suggestions as a head start, then check each one, because an ingredient bundle drives how stock is deducted when that product sells.
Ingredient bundles, recipes, and stock deduction are covered in full on the Ingredients page.
What to expect from the AI tools
A quick honest summary of what each tool does — and what it doesn't:
| Tool | What it does | What you still do |
|---|---|---|
| Ask AIstein | Answers questions, explains features, points at the right screen. | Make the actual changes yourself. |
| AI Report | Turns a plain-English question into a report. | Read the figures; export if needed. |
| Smart Import | Maps a messy file into the right columns. | Review the preview, fix unmatched rows, import. |
| Bundle AI review | Suggests product ↔ bundle assignments. | Approve or reject each suggestion. |
