Smart Report Builder

Overview

Smart Report Builder is an AI-powered reporting interface inside the admin console. Instead of navigating filter after filter, you either click a ready-made report card or type a plain-English question — and the builder fetches the data, draws a chart, and has an AI write a plain-language analysis.

You'll find it at Rewardly POS → Smart Report Builder in the admin sidebar — or open it directly at /rewardlyPos/aiReport.

When to use it

Use Smart Report Builder when you have a specific question in mind and want to skip straight to the answer — "Which menu items should I remove?" or "Which outlet is lagging?". For routine reconciliation or scheduled exports, the fixed POS reports are still the fastest path.

How it works

There are two ways to get a report:

1 — Click a purpose card

Browse the report cards under the category tabs (currently Sales) and click the one that matches your question. The builder fetches the data for your current filter settings and displays the result immediately.

2 — Ask a question

Type any business question into the AI query bar at the top and press Enter (or click Ask). The AI classifies your question, picks the best-matching report type, fetches the data, and highlights the matching card so you can re-run it later with a single click.

The builder also shows suggested questions below the query bar — tap one to kick off a report without typing.

Filters

All reports respect the same four filters, persisted across browser sessions:

FilterOptions
Date rangeCustom from/to date pickers — defaults to the last 7 days.
OutletAll outlets, or a specific branch.
SourceAll sources · Customer (online) · Store · Kiosk · POS · Grab · Foodpanda.

Set your filters before running a report, or change them and re-run at any time.

Sales reports

The Sales category has 7 ready-made reports:

ReportWhat it shows
Top Selling CategoryMenu categories ranked by revenue. Useful for knowing which part of your menu drives the most money.
Top Selling ItemIndividual menu items ranked by revenue — your bestsellers.
Total Sales AmountDaily revenue trend over the selected period — a line chart by day.
Sales by OutletRevenue comparison across all your branches, sorted from highest to lowest.
Total Sales CountDaily order volume trend — like Total Sales Amount but counting orders instead of dollars.
Orders by OutletOrder frequency comparison across branches. Useful if you want to separate order volume from ticket size.
Today Hourly SalesRevenue and order count broken down by hour — always for today. Great for spotting slow periods.

More categories coming

Operation, Analytic, Forecast, and Audit category tabs are visible but not yet live. They will expand the builder with operational, trend, and audit reports without any migration or setup on your end.

Reading a result

Every result page has the same four sections:

KPI cards

Four headline numbers computed automatically from the report data — totals, averages, the best and worst performers. They update with every new result so you don't have to read the whole table to get the key figure.

Chart

A bar or line chart built from the same data as the table. Bar charts rank or compare; line charts show trends over time. Hover a bar or point for the exact value.

AI analysis

A short written commentary on the data — what stands out, what the pattern suggests, and what you might want to look at next. It streams in character-by-character when the result first loads.

Below the analysis you'll see 3 follow-up questions — pre-written suggestions that logically follow from the current result. Click one to run it immediately.

Click Copy (clipboard icon) to copy the full analysis text.

Data table

The raw rows behind the chart, with the row count shown in the top-left corner. Column headers are auto-formatted from the field names. Use this when you need the exact numbers, not just the chart shape.

Click Export CSV to download the full table as a comma-separated file.

Exporting data

Click Export CSV in the data table header to download the current result. The file is named after the report type (e.g. top-selling-item.csv). There is no row limit — you get everything that matched your filters.
