Pre-printed Vouchers

Overview

Pre-printed Vouchers lets you create batches of unique voucher codes you can print and distribute offline — hand them out at events, include them in packaging, or run a partner campaign with another merchant. A customer scans the barcode in the Rewardly member app to link the voucher to their account.

Digital vs physical

Most campaigns send vouchers digitally by email or SMS through Campaigns. Pre-printed Vouchers is for physical distribution — when you need something a customer can hold in their hand and scan later.

Two distribution modes

When creating a batch you choose whether to generate barcodes:

With barcodeEach voucher gets a unique scannable barcode. The customer opens the Rewardly app and scans the code to claim the voucher.
Without barcodeNo barcode is generated. Use this for affiliated marketing — a cashier scans an external partner voucher or ticket at the POS to qualify the customer for a matching voucher.

Voucher types

TypeWhat it means
MemberLinked to a member account. The customer must scan to claim and must be a Rewardly member.
Gift CardCan be given to anyone. Stays open until redeemed, even without a member account.

Creating a batch

  1. Open Loyalty & Programs → Pre-printed Vouchers → CREATE (/voucherBarcodes).
  2. Fill in:

Generate barcodeToggle on to produce scannable barcodes; off for the capture-mode campaign.

Pin CodeAn optional PIN the customer must enter when scanning, for extra security.
  1. Save. The system generates the requested quantity of unique codes immediately.

Tracking status

Each code in a batch has its own status:

StatusMeaning
UnclaimedGenerated but not yet linked to anyone.
ClaimedA member scanned and linked it — ready to redeem but not yet spent.
UsedRedeemed against a transaction.
Open (Gift Card)A gift-card type code not yet linked to a member.
Used (No member)Redeemed without a member account.

The batch list shows total counts per status so you can track take-up across your distribution.

How a member claims a barcode voucher

  1. The member opens the Rewardly member app.
  2. On the Scan tab, they scan the barcode on the physical voucher.
  3. The system links the voucher to their account — it appears in their Voucher Wallet and is redeemable at the POS on their next visit.

Store app scan

Staff at the POS can also scan a customer's barcode voucher directly from the Rewardly Store App to link it, if the customer doesn't have the member app installed.
